Valentine’s Day Self-Care Beauty Tips

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and while it’s great to celebrate love with friends and family, it’s also important to show yourself some love this season. Here are some self-care beauty tips to help you look and feel your best on the most romantic day of the year!

A Relaxing Bubble Bath

Nothing says relaxation like a hot bubble bath! If you’re feeling extra stressed, add in some Epsom salt, bath bombs, or perhaps a few drops of your favorite essential oil. And let’s go all out – because you absolutely deserve it – and light some candles, play some calming music, or maybe listen to a positive, life-affirming audiobook or podcast.

An At-Home Facial

We all want our skin to look its best for special occasions, so why not give yourself a mini facial? Start by cleansing your face with a gentle cleanser. Then use a face mask that suits your skin type – clay masks are great for oily skin, hydrating masks work well for dry skin, and sheet masks are good all-rounders. Alternatively, you can make your own! Let the mask sit on your skin for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. Finish up with a moisturiser or serum, and voila – glowing skin that’s ready for Valentine’s Day!

Here is a simple yet effective face mask that you can easily make with ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. You will need:
• 1 ripe avocado
• 2 tablespoons honey
• 1 tablespoon yogurt (optional)
Mash the avocado until it forms a paste, then add in the honey and yogurt. Mix until everything is well blended, then apply the mixture to your face and neck. Leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Your skin should feel soft, smooth, and hydrated!

A Little Pampering

Pamper yourself with a homemade hair treatment or manicure. Start by giving your hair some TLC with a deep conditioning treatment or scalp massage; then finish up with a little manicure. It’s nice to go into the salon for treatments but carving out some intentional time for ourselves and spending that time giving ourselves the treatment is the highest of self-love activities that we can practice. Team this with a glass of something bubbly, and your favourite foodie treats and you’ll be in heaven…

An at-home manicure is easy to do and doesn’t require any fancy tools or products—all you need is five basic items:

• Nail clippers • Nail file • Cuticle pusher (or orange stick)• Cotton swabs • Nail polish (optional)

Start by clipping your nails and filing them into the desired shape. Next, use the cuticle pusher to push back any excess cuticles on each nail. Dip a cotton swab into some warm water mixed with soap and gently scrub each nail bed until they are clean of dirt or debris. Finally, finish off with a coat of your favorite nail polish (optional).

Use these self-care beauty tips to take some time out of your busy schedule and give yourself the love you deserve. It’s not always easy to make time for ourselves but by putting everything and everyone else before ourselves we are doing not only ourselves but also other’s a disservice. We cannot be the best friend, sister, mother etc. that we can possibly be if we’re not meeting our needs first.

So, whether it’s relaxing in the tub, mixing yourself up a facemask, or showing your hair some TLC, there are lots of things you can do at home to make sure yourself some love, get that warm fuzzy feeling going on inside, and look and feel amazing this Valentine’s Day.
