Winter Bride Skincare 101: create a perfect base for your special day

In the lead up to your big day, you may be thinking more and more about the way you’re going to look! There is a saying about makeup, and it’s that makeup is only as good as the canvas it’s applied to.

We’re talking about your skin! In the winter especially, skin can be delicate and can easily become damaged when out in the cold weather – and when subsequently going into a very warm environment!

If you’ve previously just let your skin ‘do its thing’, it’s time to step up a little. If there was ever a time to take up a good skincare routine, it’s in the lead up to your winter wedding.

Here, you can follow our top five wedding skincare tips on how to keep your skin clear and luminous for the big day.

No Puffy Eyes

Vitamin C is the ingredient of the moment right now, with its antioxidant properties and ability to regenerate and brighten dull and lacklustre skin. This rich eye cream by Ole Henrikson is great for a winter boost. Its crease-resistant, concealer-friendly formula is also fueled by gold complexed vitamin C for improved delivery to the surface layer of your skin. It also includes orange extract, which helps brighten skin and reduce the look of dark spots.

Exfoliate and Moisturise

Tackle winter weather woes from the beginning by changing up your skincare routine. Use a good exfoliator such as this Cleanse + Polish exfoliator from Liz Earle to get rid of those built-up dry patches. Next, slather on a cult favourite tinted moisturiser like this flawless natural finish one from Hourglass to get the best protection possible from that harsh wind as well as getting a healthy glow.

Tone your Skin

Tone your skin with the cult classic PIXI Glow Tonic, which will remove dead skin cells for healthier looking skin. Toning regularly is meant to gently refresh your skin without stripping it of its natural moisture (great during the winter!). This means toner won’t irritate sensitive skin or cause excessive dryness. Toner also prepares the skin to drink up your post-cleansing moisturiser and any other skin treatments that you may apply.

Tear-proof your look

It’s that pesky wind again! Facing the way the wind is blowing is a sure-fire way to ruin that carefully applied mascara. No one wants raccoon eyes at their wedding or their girly night out! Make sure that your lashes can take all that’s thrown at them by using a good waterproof mascara like this amazing one from Charlotte Tilbury..

We hope this is all helpful, but all that really matters is that you feel your absolute best on your wedding day and being happy with the skin you’re in can play a big part in that, so a little prep now could go a long way.
