Look Your Best in Every Photo

Whether it’s your wedding day, time for a social media rebrand, or your company wants new headshots, having a camera pointing at you for a photo can bring out insecurities in even the least camera-shy of us!

But what if we told you that there are a few simple tricks you can use to look your best in every photo? With just a little bit of effort, you can be better prepared for the photo op and feel more confident about it. Here’s how:

Find Your Light

Most people don’t realise that the secret to looking great in photos is all about finding the right light. If you’re outdoors, try to position yourself so that the sun is shining on your face. If you’re indoors, find a spot near a window where the natural light will hit you. The key is to avoid direct sunlight or harsh fluorescent lighting, which can wash you out.

Give Yourself Some Space

When someone is taking your photo, it’s important to leave some space around you. This will help you avoid looking cluttered or cramped in the frame. So if you’re posed with other people, make sure there’s enough space between you and them. And if you’re taking a selfie, be aware of what’s behind you and make sure it isn’t crowding into the shot.

Know Your Angles

We all have certain angles that we prefer—the ones that make us look thinner, taller, or just plain better. So when someone else is taking your photo, make sure they know which angle is your best side. And when you’re taking selfies, experiment with different angles until you find the one that flatters you most.

Stand Up Straight

Make sure you’re standing up straight. It sounds simple, but good posture can make a big difference in how you look in photos. Keep your shoulders back, chin up and tilt your head slightly to the side (but not awkwardly so!)

Relax and Smile

This may sound obvious, but it really does make a difference. If you’re tense or forcing a smile, it will show in the photo. Instead, take a deep breath and relax your face muscles. Then let your smile come naturally. Trust us, it will make all the difference in how you look in the final shot. And laughing out loud can be a really great trick too!

Use props wisely

Props can be a great way to add interest to a photo and help tell your story. But be careful not to go overboard—too many props can be distracting and take away from what’s really important: YOU! So choose props that complement your outfit and add to the overall aesthetic of the shot without stealing the show.

Blink

And finally, don’t forget to blink! It sounds silly, but so many people end up with photos where they have their eyes half-closed because they were trying not to blink when the photo was taken. So go ahead and blink! It will only make your photo that much better.

By following these simple tips, you will feel that little bit more confident and it’ll defintely show in the final image!
