The Ultimate Wedding Beauty Timeline

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re in the midst of wedding planning and you want to look your absolute best on your big day – and quite rightly so – but before we go any further, remember that you are absolutely gorgeous just as you are, so only do what makes you feel great from our suggestions below and forget about the rest! Remember, this is YOUR day.

With all the other details that go into wedding planning, it can be tough to know where to start when it comes to getting your beauty game in order so we’ve put together this handy timeline for the months leading up to your wedding day.

6 Months To Go: Start Planning Your Hair & Makeup Look

If you hadn’t given it much thought until now, then 6 months out is the perfect time to start thinking about what kind of hair and makeup look you want for your big day.

What overall look do you want to achieve? What’s the vibe? Do you want to go for a classic updo with a bold red lip? Or perhaps something a little more relaxed? Or even quirky and edgy?

Now is the time to explore, look for inspiration, and save images of hair makeup and beauty looks that you love.

Once you have an idea of what you want, start looking for hair and makeup artists with a similar style of images on their website and socials and book in a call to chat things through with them to see if they are the right person to make your vision a reality!

4 Months To Go: Get a Facial & Try Out Some New Skincare Products

You and your skin will be front and centre on your wedding day, so now is the time to start taking care of it!

If you don’t already have a regular facial routine or have skin concerns, now is the time to start seeing an esthetician or dermatologist who can help you figure out which products and treatments are right for your skin type. This is also a great time to experiment with different beauty and skincare products until you find a routine that works for you. Just be sure not to try anything too near to your wedding in case of breakouts, really you want to be finding your skincare routine now and sticking to it to ensure your skin looks it’s absolute best and any makeup sits nicely and enhances it.

2 Months To Go: Get a Mani/Pedi & Start Waxing/Shaving Regularly

Most of the major decisions have been made (dress, venue, florist, etc.), so it’s now time to start thinking about the smaller details—like making sure your nails are looking their best!

If you’re someone who doesn’t usually get regular manicures or pedicures then now would be good time to start incorporating them into your beauty routine, particularly for those all-important ring photos!

In addition, if you plan on waxing or shaving any areas of your body for your wedding (underarms, legs, bikini area, etc.), now is the time to start doing so on a regular basis to avoid any unwanted surprises come your wedding day!

1 Month To Go: Get a Haircut & Color & Start Using Fake Tan (If Desired)

With only one month left before the big day, if you’re due a haircut, now is the time to take care of that. Cuts can take a bit of time to settle and you can always have a tiny trim nearer the day if necessary.

If you’re colouring your hair differently from normal, then make sure you test out the colour now to make sure it suits you and keep in mind that it must match your hair extensions if you are using any on your wedding day. Either buy your extensions after your colouring or take them with you to the hairdresser to ensure they match.

If you plan on getting a spray tan or using a DIY fake tan for your big day then start experimenting with different brands and shades now until you find one that works for you. Be sure to exfoliate regularly and moisturise well so that your tan goes on evenly and lasts as long as possible. We recommended tanning a couple of days before your wedding day to allow the tan to settle.

With just a little bit of effort (and perhaps some professional help), achieving a perfect bridal beauty glow is within easy reach, just make sure you give yourself plenty of time to experiment with new products and you build consistency into your skincare routine. Don’t forget to keep yourself well-hydrated daily and eat lots of fresh fruit and veggies to make you sparkle from the inside out!
