How to take care of yourself in the lead up to your wedding

When you’re getting married and arranging your wedding, it might come as a surprise to you the actual amount of work that goes into it all. Forget venue meetings and finding the best band – it’s planning for how you’re going to look on the day that’s super important!

Far from just hiring a makeup artist who shows up on the day to apply your bridal makeup, there’s so many things you can do in the lead up to your special day to ensure that you get the absolute best out of your makeup and look completely glowing and lovely.

Some of these things are quite straightforward, but others you may not have thought of. That’s why we’re here, helping you along to make sure you feel your very best.

Don’t Go Changing

It’s really important to have a consistent skincare routine. It can be really tempting to think you should overhaul your skincare routine by spending a lot of money on new products a few weeks before the day to try to get a bridal ‘glow’. However, this could be a big mistake! Any new product will not work overnight and usually takes a while for your skin to get used to. Often, you can break out or even develop rashes. If you’d like to change your skincare routine, I’d recommend doing this WELL before the big day itself.

Seek Professional Guidance
Like your skincare routine, it can be easy to be tempted in with facials and other skincare practices that promise to buff away your dead skin cells and leave you fresh and revived. If you’re new to facials though, you may not know that they can leave you red and blotchy – not something you want to be on your wedding day! Before you go ahead, it’s worth consulting with your beautician to find out what the side-effects will be and how long they’ll last.

Nourish From Inside Out

We can’t share enough the benefits of nurturing your body with the most simple of things: water and greens. Water is the most important liquid to flush out any toxins and clear away blemishes. Vegetables are full of water for extra hydration, and things like spinach and broccoli are wonderful for some extra vitamins to keep you going in between all that planning.

Relax!
The tips above can help to create a lovely, smooth base for your makeup to be applied to, but it’s you being at ease that will create the most beautiful look. On the day, relax with your chosen bridal party and let me as your makeup artist recreate your desired bridal look, while you drink a glass or two of something sparkling. Soon you’ll be married, and what a joy that will be: take a breath and soak it all in.
