Valentine’s Day is coming! Are your lips ready to pucker up? If the bitter cold of winter has left you with a dry, chapped pout, you’re certainly not alone. The delicate, thin skin on our lips is especially susceptible to the elements, which means some extra TLC might be required before the romantic day.

1. Prepare
The first step to super smooth lips? Exfoliation. Fresh Sugar Lip Polish not only smells delicious, but it also banishes dry, flaky skin. As any dead cells are gently massaged away, your lips will benefit from the nourishing blend of shea butter and jojoba oil.
2. Heal and Shine
Did you know that the most common cause of dry, flaky lips is environmental, such as extreme cold, wind, sun, and dry heat and air? So next, follow up with a hydrating lip balm to protect your lips and create a barrier between the fragile skin of the lip and extreme weather. The goal is to lock in moisture. We recommend makeup guru Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Magic.
3. Hydrate Yourself
We lose up to ten times more moisture through our lips than we do elsewhere on our face and body, even minimal exposure to these conditions can result in dehydrated lips, causing them to feel parched, cracked, and uncomfortable. Because of this, it’s so important to drink water throughout the day. Your lips are one of the first places that dehydration will be seen on the face. Keep that balm on, and carry around a big bottle of water!
4. Be Bold
Now that your lips are ready to go, it’s time to amp up the romance with a pop of colour. We think you should go the whole hog with a classic red such as Charlotte Tilbury’s K-I-S-S-I-N-G, a bright warm red moisturising lipstick for a satin-finish, bright lip look leaving you with a gorgeous pout that will last for hours.
5. Make It Last
The last thing you want is a smeared smile. If you’ve gone with a bold colour, you’ll need to set this with a setting spray. We love the cult classic Urban Decay All Nighter spray. Additionally, just make sure you can keep an eye on it throughout the day and into the evening. Strong colours have a tendency to fade or bleed, so do keep checking it to clean up any edges.
